The distinctive Saddleback landmark is visible from Mission Viejo and forms the geographic symbol of Orange County. The formation consists of two peaks: Modjeska Peak at 5,496 feet on the left and Santiago Peak at 5,689 feet on the right. Santiago Peak is the highest point in Orange County and the highest peak of the Santa Ana Mountains, which form a coastal range extending 61 miles southeast from the Los Angeles Basin along the border between Orange and Riverside counties.

The Santa Ana Mountains and the Cleveland National Forest surrounding them offer hiking, camping and outdoor recreation to Orange County residents. The landscape visible from Mission Viejo has been home to historic ranches and is now managed as a mix of national forest land and preserved historic properties. Creeks draining from the mountains westward—including Trabuco Creek, San Juan Creek, and San Mateo Creek—carry water toward the Pacific Ocean and were historically the source of life in the region.

Mountain views and open space near a settled community remind families why they live where they do. That sense of place, of a home you have chosen in a landscape you can see from your door, is exactly what life insurance protects: the power to choose where your family lives and how they live, even if something happens to you.
